The first term review for the AdMiRe project was held a couple of weeks ago. GTI showcased the teleporting app frontend that was developed as part of the AdMiRe system. This app, based on Facebook’s React framework, is the interface that allows users to capture them in a standard manner so they can be properly inserted in a virtual scenario. The overall system pipeline will integrate the work of other AdMiRe partners such as EPFL’s super resolution and background extraction.

The feedback about technical aspects of the application was very positive. New improvements are being integrated suggested by the partners feedback and QA sessions: As a result, the teleporting app is now undergoing a refactoring process to increase its performance and usability.

  • Image quality assessment wizard. This image analysis is taken on Brainstorm servers in the form of a service. Images from the user and the target environment are fed to a machine learning based algorithm, that is capable of extracting a series of statistics to assess the user image quality. Also this same algorithm can produce a color correction tonemap configuration of the user stream to fit the TV studio lighting conditons.

●      Offline mode, Progressive Web Apps. PWA’s enable web applications to be installed directly on the device. This feature enables engaging the target user via faster loading content, notifications and push notifications.

●      New improved interface. User interaction is simplified, and more suited for smart devices.
